SALARY COMPARISON CALCULATOR
The difference is in the details.
A bigger headline salary does not tell the whole story. Put your current role next to a new offer and see the change in your bank account, with weekly hours in view.
Two salaries. One set of tax rules.
Set pension sacrifice for each role. Your tax region and student loan plan apply to both.

The monthly difference
£7,200 more over a year.
Annualised 2026/27 standard PAYE estimate. Net hourly figures divide annual take home by weekly hours × 52; they are a comparison aid, not your contractual hourly rate.
A worked example
A rise, translated into real pay.
Moving from £40,000 to £50,000, with the same 37.5-hour week and no pension sacrifice or student loan, gives an estimated £600 more take home each month. This example uses England, Wales or Northern Ireland tax.

How to read the result
Compare what changes.
The monthly figure comes from two complete annual pay estimates. Each side has its own salary, hours and pension sacrifice setting.
- 01
Enter both roles. Use annual gross salary and paid weekly hours from each contract. A change in hours can make a higher salary less appealing per hour.
- 02
Set the deductions. Choose pension salary sacrifice separately for each role. The selected tax region and student loan plan are kept consistent across the comparison.
- 03
Look beyond the headline. Compare monthly and annual take home, then check the net-per-hour estimate. That last figure assumes 52 paid weeks at the hours entered.
What this covers
A useful estimate, with clear limits.
This compares two alternative PAYE roles for the same person in 2026/27. It does not combine two simultaneous jobs or allocate one Personal Allowance between employers.
Pension inputs model contractual salary sacrifice only. Employer pension contributions, bonuses, equity, benefits, overtime, leave, commute costs, tax-code changes and payroll rounding are outside the estimate. Check those parts of an offer separately.
