Great Britain statutory minimum, for redundancy on or after 6 April 2026. Individual entitlement can differ.

How the minimum works

Years count differently.

You usually need at least two years as an employee to receive statutory redundancy pay. Each full year before age 22 counts as half a week’s pay, each year from 22 to 40 counts as one week, and each year from 41 counts as one and a half weeks.

Only the most recent 20 years count. For redundancies on or after 6 April 2026, weekly pay is capped at £751, making the maximum statutory payment £22,530. This calculator applies those caps.

Contractual or enhanced redundancy pay, notice pay and accrued holiday pay are separate and may increase what you receive. Rules in Northern Ireland differ from the Great Britain figures used here.
