Behind the estimate

The deductions matter.

The NHS pension is a net-pay deduction. That makes this calculation different from our pension salary sacrifice tool.

  1. 01

Set your gross pay. We pro-rate the selected pay point from 37.5 hours and add the published Inner London, Outer London or fringe supplement if selected. The supplement is pensionable.

  2. 02

Apply the NHS pension tier. The 2026/27 member rate is selected from actual annual pensionable pay. Contributions reduce pay used for Income Tax, but not employee National Insurance or student loan deductions.

  3. 03

Calculate take home. We apply standard 2026/27 England PAYE and Class 1 employee NI rates, with an optional student loan plan. Monthly pay is an annual estimate divided by twelve.

What this covers

Clear scope, clearer answer.

This is an annualised estimate for a standard Agenda for Change employee in England. It does not model unsocial hours, overtime, recruitment and retention payments, tax-code changes, other taxable income, partial tax years or local payroll rounding.

Part-time high cost area supplements are estimated by pro-rating the published full-time amount. Your trust determines whether your work base qualifies for a supplement and which pay point applies.
