Behind the number

How the hourly calculation works

Hourly rate × hours worked each week × paid weeks = annual gross pay.
  1. 01

Use 52 weeks if you are paid for a full year, including paid leave.

  2. 02

If you are only paid for the weeks you work, lower the weeks figure to reflect unpaid time.

  3. 03

We apply the same 2026/27 tax and NI rules to the resulting annual pay.

This tool assumes a consistent schedule. Overtime, variable shifts, holiday pay and multiple jobs can make actual payroll deductions different.
